Self Portraits

I was inspired a few weeks ago by one of my (now former) classmates to do a self portrait. These photos were taken on a bright, sunny day, standing in front of a sliding glass door. The glass door diffuses the light perfectly, to where it’s mostly even but still a bright light source. I took several photos: from facing the light (above left), having the light hit just one side of my face (above right), being backlit, and every variation of angle I could capture myself from. I found the two above to be the most interesting, so I took them into PhotoShop.

In PhotoShop, I adjusted the levels of each photo, the brightness and contrast, the color balance, and the saturation. I also darkened the background, which was already fairly dark because of the strong light source, and did some touching up to any blemishes I saw on my face. I also added a gradient, to even further add to the contrast. I kept the process the same for both photos, and am intrigued to get such different results.
