For my typography class, we had an assignment where we had to take a word, in a chosen typeface, and modify it to create something new. Specifically, 6 new variations. The typeface I chose was Helvetica, and my modifications mostly had to do with weight and shape of the letters. In terms of creativity I didn’t run into any blocks thinking up the different variations and executing them as sketches on paper. However, when I took them into illustrator I went through a few different methods until I finally settled on tracing the letters and making them objects, similar to the process on paper. Overall I think this project was successful, and I am happy with the way the designs turned out.
