Photo-manipulation is something I have been passionate about since I was young, and is the main reason that drove me to pursue a degree in Graphic Design. Due to my classwork and job, this isn’t something I’ve had the opportunity to practice in a few years, so this manipulation was my first in a good while. Normally, I would use stock photos from DeviantArt, but many stock photographers on that site have rules to use their photography, so for this manipulation I chose only to use my own photography.
It was a little challenging to only work with two photos, and especially to work with such a highly saturated background, but unfortunately nothing in Adobe’s stock photos looked as appealing to use as my own photograph of a beach at sunrise. My photo of my horse had a matching light source to that of the beach photo, so I chose these two to work with.
My goal in making this was to make it look realistic, but also a little dreamy. For screen resolution and settings comparison, I’ve viewed the final photo on two laptops and my cell phone. On the laptops, the colors, saturation, and contrast were all true to what I was seeing in PhotoShop as I made this and saw my completed image. On my cell phone, however, the image overall is very warm and has a little more contrast. The image I’ve uploaded has been edited from my original finished product to best represent across all the screens the “feel” I created in the completed image.
